Frequently Asked Questions
What is your Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
We accept both small-batch rapid prototype orders (hundreds of pieces) and large-scale production (tens of thousands to millions). Specific requirements depend on project complexity and materials - contact us to discuss.
Who owns the mold?
Once you've paid the full mold cost, 100% ownership of the mold belongs to you. We provide free storage and maintenance.
How long from order to first batch delivery?
It depends on mold complexity. Typically, mold manufacturing takes 3-6 weeks, and first batch production is completed within 1-2 weeks after sample approval.
Can we collaborate if I only have product samples but no drawings?
Yes. You can send us the samples, and our engineers can perform reverse engineering to create 3D models for production.
Plastic injection molding—process service for export buyers
Thermoplastic injection forces melted resin into a mold to make repeatable plastic parts—housings, clips, gears, and enclosures at volumes where machining becomes uneconomical.
Choose injection when geometry is moldable, annual volume supports tooling, and you need consistent cosmetics and dimensions across lots.
Partsproto builds aluminum or steel tools in China and ships molded parts overseas. We quote tool + piece price, DFM, and sample gates—not vague 'world-class' slogans.
- → Repeating plastic parts beyond CNC economics
- → Pilot aluminum tools before steel
- → Engineering resins (ABS, PC, PA, POM, PEEK-filled, etc.)
- → Export programs needing clear T1 approval gates
DFM tips for plastic injection
- •Keep wall thickness as uniform as the design allows; thick sections sink and warp.
- •Add draft on faces pulled from the tool—zero draft raises polish and ejector marks.
- •Locate gates away from cosmetic A-sides when possible; call vestige limits.
- •Name resin grade + fill (GF%) + color—shrinkage and warp change with each.
- •If metal inserts or soft-touch are required, see insert/overmold services instead of forcing one-shot assumptions.
Inspection & QC
- ✓T1 dimensional report on CTQs.
- ✓Cosmetic criteria agreed before volume.
- ✓Resin lot certs when ordered.
- ✓Optional FAIR for regulated programs.
- ✓Packaging standards for scratch-sensitive parts in export freight.
Lead time & batch sizing
Aluminum tools for simple housings often support first samples in a few weeks after DFM freeze; steel and multi-cavity take longer. After approval, piece lead time depends on resin color and cavity count. Request tool + 500 / 5,000 / 50,000 breaks for export planning.
Ready to Start Your Next Project?
Send CAD, resin, volume breaks, and cosmetic class—we return tool + piece price, DFM notes, and an export lead-time estimate.
