Inspection Process
Threading as a service—cut, form, mill, tap
We produce internal and external threads by cutting, rolling/forming, thread milling, and tapping—chosen by material, strength, and volume.
Choose a threading-focused quote when threads are CTQ (seal, aerospace-adjacent, or high reuse) rather than an afterthought on a mill/turn PO.
Partsproto threads parts in China for overseas buyers—send thread spec, class of fit, and whether plating comes before or after.
- → Custom or uncommon thread forms
- → High-strength rolled threads in production
- → Thread milling for large or hard parts
- → Inspection-heavy thread lots for export OEMs
Threading workflow
Spec confirm
Pitch, series, class of fit, lengths, and plating sequence.
Method select
Cut vs roll vs mill vs tap based on material and volume.
Sample threads
Gauge or optical verify before volume.
Lot run
Tool-life control; chase after plate if required.
Docs & ship
Gauge results and certs as ordered; export pack.
DFM tips for threads
- •Call standard series (metric coarse/fine, UNC/UNF) when possible—specials need tooling lead time.
- •State class of fit (e.g. 6H/6g, 2B/2A) and gauging method.
- •If parts are plated, say whether threads are cut undersize or chased after plate.
- •Blind holes need tap drill depth and chip relief notes.
- •Rolled threads need blank diameter control—share that if you supply blanks.
Inspection & QC on threads
- ✓Go/no-go gauges for standard fits.
- ✓Optical / thread mic on specials when gauges are unavailable.
- ✓Pitch diameter checks on rolled production lots as agreed.
- ✓Visual for tears, drunk threads, and plating fill.
- ✓Gauge records available with the shipment when ordered.
Lead time & batch sizing
Threads on parts we also machine usually ride the parent lead time. Standalone threading or chase-after-plate adds days. Large production roll-thread lots need blank readiness—ask for gauge plan and 100 / 1,000 / 10,000 breaks.
Threading FAQ for buyers
Cut vs rolled threads?
Rolling strengthens and finishes well in ductile metals at volume; cutting suits hard materials, low qty, and many internals. We pick per print.
Can you do NPT / BSPT?
Yes—send the standard and gauge requirements.
What about thread milling?
Useful for large diameters, hard alloys, and controlled partial threads.
Overseas RFQ tips?
PDF with thread callout, material, plating sequence, qty, and gauge expectation.
